Active Commuting updatesConstruction updatesRoad closures The construction season is quickly winding down, but things around Beaumont certainly aren’t stopping any time soon. Here’s what to expect for activity around Beaumont this week: New projects/updates: 50 Avenue water feedline construction: Work started on the sanitary sewer line replacement along 47 Street and 50 Avenue and the temporary bypass will be up and running this week. This work is expected to last one month, pending weather conditions, schedule changes and other unforeseen underground construction factors. 50 Avenue between 44 and 48 Street is closed for the duration of the sewer line replacement. Choose an alternate route or follow the detour in place. 50 Street milling and paving: The right-hand northbound lane on 50 Street in front of City Hall will be closed from October 2-8 while a contractor repairs a small portion of the road. The left-hand northbound lane remains open and two-way traffic will be maintained. Ruisseau sports field construction: Work is nearing completion for the sports field construction behind Ruisseau School. Pathway paving is expected to be complete this week, concrete for the ball diamond is being poured and sod for the field continues to be installed. Once the sod is fully installed, the project will be complete. Ball diamond safety netting – Four Seasons Park: As the fall ball season wraps up this week, safety netting is being installed starting on October 1 at the West Recreation Site and Four Seasons Ball Diamonds. Ongoing projects: Water main installation – TWP Rd 510 and RR 240: Contractors are installing a water main near TWP Rd 510 and RR 240. The eastbound lane along TWP Rd 510 and RR 240 is closed. One-way alternating traffic is in place, with flaggers directing traffic. Ongoing trail and road shoulder closures are expected along TWP Rd 510 and RR 240 until the start of November. A small road and sidewalk closure is in place for some residents in Rideau Cres. The contractor sent direct notices to impacted residents. Hydrant flushing and winterizing: Water crews will be out around the City for the next month to flush and winterize fire hydrants. Snow and ice control installation – BSRC: The parking stalls and sidewalk directly next to the north side of the Beaumont Sport and Recreation Centre (BSRC) remains closed to install permanent snow and ice guards on the roof ahead of the winter season. Nature Park playground renewal: Nature Park is closed for playground renewal work. The renewal includes removing existing playground structures, installing new playground equipment, replacing the playground border and adding a layer of new wood chips to the play area. Wastewater system renewal work: A contractor is completing sewer and manhole cleaning and relining work at several locations in Beaumont. Impacted residents will receive advance notice from the contractor about any water outages or restrictions that may be in place. There may also be short-term, temporary traffic disruptions/lane closures and parking restrictions in place. The Beaumont Sport and Recreation Centre (BSRC) Aquatic Centre is temporarily closed for annual preventative maintenance from September 10 to October 1. Read more about the closure >> Washroom renovations – Ken Nichol Regional Recreation Centre: The downstairs washrooms are closed for renovations. Use the upper lobby washrooms. Construction traffic – Dansereau Meadows: Expect heavy machinery and trucks crossing along Township Rd 510 for Dansereau development work. Construction traffic – Élan: Expect truck hauling activity near Township Rd 505 and 50 Avenue for Élan development work. * Projects may be added or revised throughout the week when new details are received.
