Home & Neighbourhood Public Safety Emergency Preparedness
Being prepared for unexpected events builds personal and community resiliency.
Unexpected situations can strike at any time, ranging from a minor inconvenience to more severe events like emergencies and disasters. These can take several forms, including weather-related events, like winter storms and tornadoes, to water advisories, hazardous chemical exposure, pandemics and wildfires.
The City of Beaumont will send an alert through the Alberta Emergency Alert System when residents need to take immediate action or to share awareness or information about a situation. The alerts contain information about what is happening, where the situation is occurring and what actions to take. Further updates or information will be posted on the homepage of the City’s website and on social media channels.
While the City of Beaumont works year-round to prepare for potential disruptions, emergencies and disasters, there are additional steps residents can take to prepare for an emergency:
If you need support after an emergency or want to help others, the City’s Family and Community Support Services team provides resources to help residents get back on their feet.
In addition, there may also be provincial supports and federal supports available to help recover after disasters, depending on the situation.
The City of Beaumont has an Emergency Advisory Committee established to provide high-level advice on developing and implementing Beaumont’s emergency management plan and programs.
