Family and Community Support Services Grant

The Family and Community Support Services (FCSS) Grant closes November 1, 2024 at 11:59 pm.

The FCSS Grant supports organizations engaged in preventative social service programming. For purposes of FCSS Program delivery, preventative social services are defined as “enhancing the social well-being of individuals and families through promotion or intervention strategies provided at the earliest opportunity.”

Eligible projects, services and initiatives are ones that serve the residents and community of Beaumont and:

  • support,
  • educate,
  • build awareness,
  • develop leadership skills,
  • strengthen family life and
  • promote volunteerism.

Who can apply?

To be eligible to receive an FCSS grant, the program/project must fit the Provincial FCSS mandate and address one or more of the Beaumont FCSS program priorities as described in the application form.

Key details

Programs or services provided must be preventative and may include initiatives and programs that:

  • Help communities identify their social needs and develop responses.
  • Promote, encourage, and support volunteer work in the community.
  • Inform the public about services.
  • Support children and their families’ social development.
  • Help families enrich and strengthen family life and function more effectively in their own environment.
  • Enhance retired and semi-retired people’s quality of life.

FCSS funding cannot be used for programs and services that:

  • Are only focused on an individual’s leisure or recreational needs.
  • Provide an individual or family with basic living supports such as money, food, clothing, or shelter.
  • Are only focused on rehabilitation.
  • Duplicate services provided by government or a government agency.

Expenditures of the program shall not include:

  • The purchase of land or buildings.
  • The construction or renovation of a building.
  • The purchase of motor vehicles.
  • Any costs required to sustain an organization that do not relate to direct service delivery under the program.
  • Municipal property taxes and levies.
  • Any payments to a member of a board or committee for operating the program and/or delivery of the services under the program, other than reimbursing volunteers for incidental expenses necessarily incurred in providing volunteer services to the program but not including loss of wages.

Additionally…

  • Crisis intervention and rehabilitation services are not eligible to receive funding.
  • Capital expenses, including funding to build, renovate, maintain, or operate a facility where FCSS programs and services are offered, are not eligible to receive funding.
  • This program is competitive, and eligibility does not guarantee funding.

Final reporting

Final reports are due within the fiscal year that the grant was awarded. Overdue or incomplete reporting will result in your organization being ineligible to receive future grant funds from the City of Beaumont until final reports are received.
