Active Commuting updatesConstruction updatesRoad closures The City of Beaumont is renewing two parks this summer—Milieu Park in Coloniale Estates and Nature Park in Glenbrae Meadows. The project involves removing the existing playground structures, installing brand new playground equipment at both parks, replacing the playground borders and adding a layer of new wood chips to the play area. What to expect: Park closures: The playground structures will be closed and fenced off to remove the old equipment and replace with new playground equipment. Construction setup and noise: Residents may notice small construction equipment, materials and noise in the area during normal working hours. All work will follow the Community Standards Bylaw. Fencing and open excavation: Fencing will be in place around the active work areas because of open excavation and equipment in the area. Do NOT enter any areas that are fenced off – it’s for your safety. Periodic walking trail closures: Walking trails may be temporarily closed while equipment is moved in and out of the area. Project timelines: Work will start August 10 at Milieu Park. Once Milieu Park is complete, the contractor will move to Nature Park. Work is anticipated to be completed by the end of August. Timelines are approximate and may change due to weather, contractor availablility, schedule changes and other unforeseen factors. Safety The safety of residents and construction crews is the City’s top priority. Follow all posted signs, fencing and keep a safe distance from the work area and equipment. Do not enter any areas that are fenced off – the fences are in place because there is open excavation and equipment present. Project benefits New playground equipment is being installed to modernize the play structure and make sure it’s safe. A new border around the play area will reduce tripping hazards and help keep wood chips in the structure area. A new layer of wood chips provides proper cushioning for protection against fall-related injuries. Modernized playground equipment, updated borders and fresh wood chips will significantly boost the aesthetic appeal for both playgrounds and reduce maintenance and repair costs.
