Active Commuting updatesConstruction updatesRoad closures Crews are hard at work as they try to make up for a wet July and get projects back on track. Here’s what’s happening throughout the City of Beaumont this week for construction and maintenance: New projects/updates: 50 Avenue water feedline construction: The 50 Ave water feedline project continues. Rolling temporary lane and road closures will occur for the duration of the project. Watch for signage and detours in place. Paving on 50 Street: Paving on 50 Street between 52 Avenue and the intersection near Tim Hortons and CIBC was completed last week. Crews are finishing line painting this week and all lanes will be open once that is completed. Plan extra time if you’re driving through the area during painting and please slow down to keep crews safe. Temporary water outage – Coloniale Estates: A small portion of Coloniale Estates (in the area of 24 Coloniale Way) will have a water outage on August 5 while work is completed on the water system. City of Beaumont staff will be doorknocking on August 4 and hand delivering letters to affected residents. Cenotaph construction – Beaumont Sport and Recreation Centre (BSRC): The Cenotaph project at the BSRC is ongoing as crews await for the monument to be delivered and installed. The roundabout is open again for traffic, but will be closed temporarily once the monument arrives and is being installed. Water valve and hydrant replacements: The City will be replacing several water valves and fire hydrants throughout the month of August in residential and park areas. Some temporary sidewalk, parking lane and trail closures may be in place while the work is completed. Road closure – Eaglemont Heights: A portion of 57 Avenue and 63 Street in Eaglemont Heights will be closed on Saturday, August 8 for a block party. Please use alternate routes. Ongoing projects: Construction traffic – 9 Coloniale Way: Construction traffic is anticipated at the 9 Coloniale Way development this week as crews prepare the site for development. Please watch for vehicles crossing and be mindful of crews in the area. Construction traffic – Dansereau Meadows: Expect heavy machinery and trucks crossing along Township Rd 510 for Dansereau development work. Summer water system maintenance: City water crews are conducting annual summer water system maintenance, including hydrant painting and flushing, valve exercising and other preventative work to support ongoing system reliability. Wastewater system renewal work: Throughout the summer, a contractor is completing sewer and manhole cleaning and relining work at several locations in Beaumont. Impacted residents will receive advance notice from the contractor about any water outages or restrictions that may be in place. There may also be short-term, temporary traffic disruptions/lane closures and parking restrictions in place. Sidewalk closures in Dansereau Meadows: A portion of the sidewalk is closed on Dansereau Crescent for shallow utility work. Ruisseau sports field construction: Work continues on the sports field construction behind Ruisseau School, including drainage improvements to accommodate new fields. Washroom renovations – Ken Nichol Regional Recreation Centre: Upper lobby washrooms are closed for renovation. Use downstairs washrooms during the closure. * Projects may be added or revised throughout the week when new details are received.
