Weekly Construction Update August 24 to 28

Active Commuting updatesConstruction updatesRoad closures

It’s easy to see the detours, but here’s the big picture: every project happening this week is a step toward a more resilient and connected city. The City is prioritizing system reliability to keep our infrastructure as vibrant as our residents, as the community grows. See what’s happening around the city this week to support long-term growth:

New projects/updates:

  • 50 Avenue water feedline construction: 50 Avenue in front of École Bellevue School and the Beaumont Community Centre (between 55 Street and 51 Street) is down to one lane with alternating traffic in both directions. This also impacts drop-off and pick-up at the school. Read more to learn about the lane closures, impacts and the updated project schedule >>
  • Underground utility repairs – Triomphe Estates: Two localized road and sidewalk closures are in place near 36 Street and Triomphe Boulevard and 35 Street near 45 Avenue for underground utility repairs. Temporary detours are in place while the work is underway.
  • Snow and ice control installation – BSRC: Starting August 27, the parking stalls and sidewalk directly next to the north side of the Beaumont Sport and Recreation Centre (BSRC) will be temporarily closed for approximately one week to install permanent snow and ice guards on the roof ahead of the winter season.

Ongoing projects:

  • Milieu Park and Nature Park playground renewal: Park renewal is underway at Milieu Park. Once completed, crews will move on to renewal at Nature Park. This work includes removing the existing playground structures, installing new playground equipment, replacing the playground borders and adding a layer of new wood chips to the play area.
  • Wastewater system renewal work: Throughout the summer, a contractor is completing sewer and manhole cleaning and relining work at several locations in Beaumont. Impacted residents will receive advance notice from the contractor about any water outages or restrictions that may be in place. There may also be short-term, temporary traffic disruptions/lane closures and parking restrictions in place.
  • Water valve and hydrant replacements: The City will be replacing several water valves and fire hydrants throughout the month of August in residential and park areas. Some temporary sidewalk, parking lane and trail closures may be in place while the work is completed.
  • Washroom renovations – Ken Nichol Regional Recreation Centre: Upper lobby washrooms are complete, and the downstairs washrooms are now being renovated. Use the upper lobby washrooms during the closure.
  • Shallow utility upgrades – Brookside: A contractor is completing utility upgrades near 58 Street south of 47 Avenue. Sidewalk and parking lane closures are in effect.
  • Cenotaph construction – Beaumont Sport and Recreation Centre (BSRC): The Cenotaph project at the BSRC is ongoing as crews await for the monument to be delivered and installed. The roundabout is open again for traffic, but will be closed temporarily once the monument arrives and is being installed.
  • Construction traffic – 9 Coloniale Way: Construction traffic is anticipated at the 9 Coloniale Way development this week as crews prepare the site for development. Please watch for vehicles crossing and be mindful of crews in the area.
  • Construction traffic – Dansereau Meadows: Expect heavy machinery and trucks crossing along Township Rd 510 for Dansereau development work.
  • Construction traffic – Élan: Expect truck hauling activity near Township Rd 505 and 50 Avenue for Élan development work.
  • Summer water system maintenance: City water crews are conducting annual summer water system maintenance, including hydrant painting and flushing, valve exercising and other preventative work to support ongoing system reliability.
  • Ruisseau sports field construction: Work continues on the sports field construction behind Ruisseau School, including drainage improvements to accommodate new fields.

* Projects may be added or revised throughout the week when new details are received. Dates and schedules are approximate and may change due to weather conditions, contractor availability, schedule changes and other unforeseen factors.
