Weekly Construction Update November 2 to 6

Active Commuting updatesConstruction updatesRoad closures

Warmer temperatures are in the forecast for the week ahead, and crews are taking advantage of this to complete construction and maintenance work. Here is what’s happening in Beaumont this week:

New projects/updates:

  • Parking lane and sidewalk closures – Dansereau Meadows: Crews are installing a manhole near Dansereau Way and 62 Avenue. Parking lane and sidewalk closures will be in place, and traffic may also be down to one-way alternating traffic at times. Flaggers will be in place to direct traffic when this occurs.
  • 50 Avenue water feedline construction:
    • Crews continue to install the water feedline in front of École Bellevue School. The two eastbound lanes on 50 Avenue between 51 and 55 Street are closed. Westbound lanes remain open to accommodate two-way traffic (one lane in each direction) when the crew is not actively working. When there is active construction work, one-way alternating traffic will be in place, along with flaggers to direct traffic.
    • Sidewalk and other access closures or restrictions near the school may change daily, depending on progress. Whissell, the project contractor, is actively working with the school to share closures or restrictions that may impact the school community.
    • Sanitary sewer line repair: 50 Avenue between 44 and 48 Street is now open and the detour is no longer in place. Only a small portion of 47 Street between 50A Avenue and 50 Avenue is closed while underground repairs continue. Work is anticipated to wrap up by early- to mid-November.
  • Construction traffic – Coloniale Way: Heavy construction traffic is expected near the 9 Coloniale commercial development this week due to clay hauling. Please slow down and watch for crossing vehicles.
  • Ball diamond safety netting – Four Seasons Park: Safety netting has been installed at the West Recreation Site and installation will start this week at the Four Seasons ball diamonds. Temporary fencing has also been installed near the dog park for additional safety measures while this work is being completed.

Ongoing projects:

  • Winter preparation: The Public Works team is preparing for winter, including winterizing fire hydrants, prepping roads and pathways and getting equipment ready.
  • Storm clean up: Crews continue to clean up downed trees and debris after high winds the last few weeks.
  • Water main installation – TWP Rd 510 and RR 240:
    • Contractors are installing a water main near TWP Rd 510 and RR 240. The eastbound lane along TWP Rd 510 and RR 240 is closed. One-way alternating traffic is in place, with flaggers directing traffic.
    • Ongoing trail and road shoulder closures are expected along TWP Rd 510 and RR 240 until the start of November.
    • A small road and sidewalk closure is in place for some residents in Rideau Cres. The contractor sent direct notices to impacted residents.
  • Wastewater system renewal work: A contractor is completing sewer and manhole cleaning and relining work at several locations in Beaumont. Impacted residents will receive advance notice from the contractor about any water outages or restrictions that may be in place. There may also be short-term, temporary traffic disruptions/lane closures and parking restrictions in place.
  • Washroom renovations – Ken Nichol Regional Recreation Centre: The downstairs washrooms are closed for renovations. Use the upper lobby washrooms.

* Projects may be added or revised throughout the week when new details are received. Dates and schedules are approximate and may change due to weather conditions, contractor availability, schedule changes and other unforeseen factors.
