This plan is built around your voice

The new Strategic Plan reflects the perspectives, values and priorities Council heard from residents during the 2025 municipal election. In some cases, priorities from the previous plan have been incorporated where they continue to align with community needs. In other cases, Council has refined, expanded or introduced new priorities to address emerging opportunities and challenges.

Commitments

City Council will reflect its promises to you through Our Commitments. The word commitment was chosen deliberately to signal accountability and shared ownership. These commitments guide every decision, investment and action taken on behalf of residents, both today and for generations to come.

To make sure Beaumont residents benefit from a passionate and engaged public service that is focused on excellence, driven by community feedback and a clear understanding of the services the City provides, your Council will:

  • Strengthen enforcement of the Community Standards Bylaw and other City-led initiatives to enhance and promote community aesthetics.
  • Develop an organization-wide customer experience plan, including a clear escalation process.
  • Ensure timely, friendly, and accurate responses to customer service portal inquiries.
  • Define City service levels and fund them accordingly.
  • Enhance communication of City service levels, budgets and performance to the public.
  • Undertake a social media policy review and communications audit.
  • Develop a communication plan for Council and Administration that builds public trust.
  • Improve business signage guidelines and processes.
  • Implement online permit applications for planning and development.
  • Improve the City’s website for user-friendly information sharing.

To support a safe community and ensure residents have access to the services and infrastructure they need, your Council will:

  • Continue to pursue opportunities to expand health services.
  • Explore re-establishing the School Resource Officer program.
  • Focus on connecting Beaumont’s trail system.
  • Increase youth engagement in the community.
  • Advocate for increased Family and Community Support Services funding from the Alberta government.
  • Prioritize funding for Municipal Enforcement, Fire Services and RCMP to meet recommended service levels and support proactive enforcement.
  • Prioritize the Emergency Management Plan, including Emergency Social Services.
  • Work proactively with regional neighbours and community partners to assess social infrastructure needs.

To make sure the community’s heritage is celebrated and impacts on residents are considered in Beaumont’s growth, your Council will:

  • Improve engagement with the public regarding growth and development.
  • Update the Municipal Development Plan and Land Use Bylaw.
  • Work with neighbouring municipalities to create Intermunicipal Development Plans and Intermunicipal Collaboration Frameworks.
  • Support the development of the Innovation Park and the Alberta Motor Transport Association’s Safety Campus, along with other commercial investment opportunities.
  • Work with regional partners to guide growth and share services.
  • Focus on the Comprehensive Growth Plan and long-term capital plan.
  • Expand our Asset Management program.
  • Pursue funding opportunities and partnerships.
  • Support and accelerate local business growth and commercial investment.
