City Council’s strategic plan for 2026-2030, Strengthening Our Community Together, sets a clear, focused roadmap for Beaumont’s future based on feedback from residents.

“This plan was built on what we heard during the 2025 election and since taking office,” said Mayor Lisa Vanderkwaak. “We listened to your hopes, your ideas, and your concerns. What you told us shaped every page of this plan.”

Strengthening Our Community, Together, approved by Council on June 23, focuses on three commitments to residents with specific actions:

Resident-Centred Services

Beaumont residents will benefit from a passionate and engaged public service that is focused on excellence, driven by community feedback and a clear understanding of the services the City provides. Actions include:

  • Strengthen enforcement of the Community Standards Bylaw and other City-led initiatives to enhance and promote community aesthetics.
  • Develop an organization-wide customer experience plan, including a clear escalation process.
  • Enhance communications of City service levels, budgets, and performance to the public.

Community Safety and Well-Being

Council is committed to supporting a safe community and ensuring residents have access to the services and infrastructure they need. Actions include:

  • Continue to pursue opportunities to expand health services.
  • Explore re-establishing the School Resource Officer program.
  • Prioritize funding for Municipal Enforcement, Fire Services, and RCMP to meet recommended service levels and support proactive enforcement.

Growth that Makes Sense for Beaumont

Council is committed to celebrating the community’s heritage and considering the impacts of growth on residents. Actions include:

  • Improve engagement with the public regarding growth and development.
  • Update the Municipal Development Plan and Land Use Bylaw.
  • Support and accelerate local business growth and commercial investment.

“As your elected officials, one of our responsibilities is to make sure development does not diminish the unique charm, historic character, and warm, neighbourly spirit that defines us,” said Vanderkwaak. “This plan works if we stay connected. We’re committed to being open, transparent, and accountable – not just about what we’re doing, but why. Together, let’s build a Beaumont that’s safe, strong, and prosperous.”

Residents can view the full plan and track progress on actions on the City of Beaumont’s website. Council members will be on site at Four Seasons Park during this year’s Canada Day event to discuss the plan.
