Active Commuting updatesConstruction updatesEvent notice Here’s what’s happening around Beaumont for construction and maintenance work this week: New projects/updates: Street sweeping: Crews start residential sweeping this week in the SE quadrant. Read more and see the 2026 schedule >> Lane closure – RR 243: A contractor will repair a sign on May 21 along RR 243 between Montrose Blvd and 35 Ave. The northbound lane will be closed for a few hours during off-peak times, with alternating traffic in place. Lane closure – 50 Street and Coloniale Way: Pavement repairs are happening on 50 Street northbound near Coloniale Way. A lane closure is in effect, and repairs are expected to be done May 30. Multiple road and sidewalk closures – Beaumont Days: Road and sidewalk closures are in place in Centre‑Ville May 22-24 to accommodate the street party, parade and soapbox derby. Watch for detour signs. Fire hydrant and water valve replacements: One-day fire hydrant/water valve replacements are happening this week in Beau Meadow, Beau Ridge, Glen Brae and St. Vital. Watch for temporary sidewalk detours and parking restrictions. Ongoing projects: Pothole repairs: Crews are working on permanent pothole repairs throughout the city. Please slow down and watch for temporary barricades. Learn more about pothole repairs >> Pathway construction – 30 Avenue: A contractor is completing the pathway connection on 30 Avenue between 60 Street and Duval Crescent. Watch for construction traffic and vehicles parked along the road. Flaggers will direct traffic during peak times. Sidewalk repairs – Parklane and Brookside: Crews will be out doing assessments and sidewalk repairs. Please obey temporary sidewalk closures in place. Fence replacement – 50 Street: Crews are replacing the municipal fence between 30 Avenue and 32 Avenue on the east side of 50 Street. Nearby residents received notices and impacts will be minimal. Ruisseau sports field construction: Work is underway on the sports field construction behind Ruisseau School, including drainage improvements to accommodate new fields. 30 Avenue between 49 Street to alleyway (Beau Val): A portion of the north sidewalk on 30 Avenue between 49 Street and the alley will be closed for landscaping from May 11-June 15. Use the south sidewalk detour. Irrigation system repairs near Coloniale Park: The City will be working on repairs to the irrigation system near Coloniale Park from May 12-21, pending weather. Partial trail closures are in effect and signs will be posted. Washroom renovations – Ken Nichol Regional Recreation Centre: Upper lobby washrooms are closed for renovation.
