Weekly Construction Update June 29 to July 3

With the wet weather last week and throughout the weekend, construction was paused most of last week. As things dry up, here are some of the construction activities that will resume or start this week: 

New projects/updates:

• 50 Avenue water feedline construction: The 50 Ave feedline project will resume later this week after being paused during wet weather and the emergency work due to flooding last week. 50 Avenue between 40 to 44 Street will remain closed. Lane and road closure plans may change, depending on scheduling updates, weather or other disruptions. Watch for signage and detours in place.
• Sidewalk closures – powerline repairs: FortisAlberta is completing powerline repairs near 4407 42 St. The east sidewalk will be closed. Please use the west sidewalk detour. 

Ongoing projects:

• Gobeil Park tennis court resurfacing: A temporary closure is in effect for the Gobeil Park tennis courts as part of scheduled resurfacing work.
• Cenotaph construction – Beaumont Sport and Recreation Centre (BSRC): Construction on the Cenotaph project begins June 8 at the BSRC. The roundabout and entrance off 50 Avenue and Rue Eaglemont will be closed when crews are working. Sidewalk access remains open, including the ramp and drop-off area for those with accessibility needs.
• Summer water system maintenance: City water crews are conducting annual summer water system maintenance, including hydrant painting and flushing, valve exercising and other preventative work to support ongoing system reliability.
• Wastewater system renewal work: Throughout the summer, a contractor is completing sewer and manhole cleaning and relining work at several locations in Beaumont. Impacted residents will receive advance notice from the contractor about any water outages or restrictions that may be in place. There may also be short-term, temporary traffic disruptions/lane closures and parking restrictions in place.
• Ruisseau sports field construction: Work is underway on the sports field construction behind Ruisseau School, including drainage improvements to accommodate new fields.
• Washroom renovations – Ken Nichol Regional Recreation Centre: Upper lobby washrooms are closed for renovation. Use downstairs washrooms during the closure.
