Several new construction projects are starting in the City of Beaumont this week. Here’s what to expect for construction and maintenance activities throughout the city:

New projects/updates:

  • Sanitary system improvements in St. Vital: The City of Beaumont is completing a sanitary trunk main replacement at the intersection of 50 Avenue and 47 Street to maintain safe, reliable operation of the sanitary system. The intersection will be closed for approximately one month and a detour is in place.
  • Paving on 50 Street: The City is resurfacing 50 Street between 52 Avenue and the intersection near Tim Hortons and CIBC. Crews will alternate lane closures, with one lane open in each direction. Plan extra time if you’re driving through the area and please slow down to keep crews safe.
  • 50 Avenue water feedline construction: The 50 Ave water feedline project continues. Rolling temporary lane and road closures will occur for the duration of the project. Watch for signage and detours in place.
  • Partial trail closure along RR 243: A partial trail closure is in place along RR 243 near 42 Avenue for trail repairs. Use the detour along 66 Street.

Ongoing projects:

  • Construction traffic – Dansereau Meadows: Expect heavy machinery and trucks crossing along Township Rd 510 for Dansereau development work.
  • Sidewalk closures – powerline repairs: FortisAlberta is completing powerline repairs near 4407 42 St. The east sidewalk will be closed. Please use the west sidewalk detour.
  • Cenotaph construction – Beaumont Sport and Recreation Centre (BSRC): Construction on the Cenotaph project continues. The roundabout and entrance off 50 Avenue and Rue Eaglemont will be closed when crews are working. Sidewalk access remains open, including the ramp and drop-off area for those with accessibility needs.
  • Summer water system maintenance: City water crews are conducting annual summer water system maintenance, including hydrant painting and flushing, valve exercising and other preventative work to support ongoing system reliability.
  • Wastewater system renewal work: Throughout the summer, a contractor is completing sewer and manhole cleaning and relining work at several locations in Beaumont. Impacted residents will receive advance notice from the contractor about any water outages or restrictions that may be in place. There may also be short-term, temporary traffic disruptions/lane closures and parking restrictions in place.
  • Ruisseau sports field construction: Work continues on the sports field construction behind Ruisseau School, including drainage improvements to accommodate new fields.
  • Washroom renovations – Ken Nichol Regional Recreation Centre: Upper lobby washrooms are closed for renovation. Use downstairs washrooms during the closure.

* Projects may be added or revised throughout the week when new details are received. Dates and schedules are approximate and may change due to weather conditions, contractor availability, schedule changes and other unforeseen factors.
