Do you have someone in your neighbourhood who is always lending a helping hand? It’s time to recognize those good neighbours!

Did you know?

Beaumont’s Good Neighbour program aims to recognize those individuals who contribute to a safe, connected and friendly community.

Do you have someone in your neighbourhood who always voluntarily shovels your walk, helps you carry in your groceries, or organizes neighbourhood events? Nominate your fellow neighbours who:

  • Model community spirit
  • Help in times of need
  • Improve feelings of safety and security
  • Encourage fellow neighbours to get together and connect

Program details

This program recognizes two individuals each year: one mid-year and another towards the end of the year. Each recipient of the Good Neighbour award will receive:

  • A congratulatory letter and certificate signed by the Mayor
  • $100 gift card to a local business – your choice!
  • A feature in the Beaumont News and City of Beaumont website

Criteria

The Good Neighbour Award uses criteria to choose our recipients. Here are some examples of what the behaviour looks like:

Models community spirit

  • Helping vulnerable neighbours
  • Increasing the quality of life of others
  • Volunteering

Helps in times of need

  • Shoveling snow and yard maintenance
  • Assisting with and giving rides to/from medical appointments
  • Childcare and helping with children

Improves feelings of safety and security

  • Checking in and being available
  • Watching home/pets/plants when away
  • Welcoming new neighbours

Encourages neighbours to get together

  • Planning block parties/events
  • Hosting playdates
  • Facilitating space for gatherings
  • Organizing community garage sales
