[ARCHIVED] Beaumont Fire Services responds to vehicle fire

At approximately 7 a.m. this morning, Beaumont Fire Services received a call regarding a vehicle fire at the Petro-Canada gas station on 50 Street.

Firefighters arrived within minutes to find a commercial van engulfed in flames several metres from the gas pumps. A cylinder in the van had ruptured, sending one of the rear doors flying back several metres.

No injuries occurred and the fire was extinguished within approximately four minutes.

The cause of the fire is being determined. Beaumont Fire Services credits the driver for moving the vehicle away from the station and preventing injuries or further damage.
