Week in review Beaumont RCMP May 10 – 16, 2021

For the week of May 10th, 2021 through May 16th, 2021 the Beaumont RCMP responded to 66 calls for service. Some of the calls for service include assault, break and enter, criminal harassment, dangerous driving, fraud, mental health act, health act, identity theft, impaired driving, theft under $5000, suspicious person/ vehicle, theft of vehicle, and traffic collisions.

The Beaumont RCMP conducted 40 traffic stops, resulting in 3 charges under the Traffic Safety Act.

Beaumont RCMP received a complaint from a Beaumont resident who had unknowingly purchased a stolen truck. Beaumont General Investigation Unit with the support of RCMP Auto-theft Unit and Leduc RCMP Crime Reduction Unit executed a search warrant in the Ellerslie area of Edmonton, AB. David Wood (23) of Edmonton was charged with six offences.

Beaumont RCMP has received complaints of catalytic converter thefts off vehicles. The catalytic converter is a device on the underside of the vehicle that reduces the amount of polluting gases coming from the vehicle exhaust system. They are stolen because they contain expensive rare earth minerals; rhodium, platinum and palladium. These minerals are worth a lot of money. It can cost over $2000 to replace a catalytic converter and a lot more if your vehicle runs on diesel. It takes minutes for the individuals to cut the catalytic converter off a vehicle. The thefts occur during the night between 11:00 PM to 5:00 AM. The RCMP is conducting proactive patrols looking for these individuals. Please report all suspicious activity to the RCMP.

Summer is here, Beaumont RCMP in partnership with Beaumont Community Peace Officers are conducting foot patrols through park areas and the downtown core. Please engage our team and ask questions.

Beaumont residents are encouraged to view the RCMP Crime Mapping tool and can access the map through the City of Beaumont’s website at https://www.beaumont.ab.ca/532/Beaumont-RCMP-Crime-Map

The Beaumont RCMP encourages the public to report all criminal and suspicious activity. In case of an emergency, call 911, for non-urgent reports call the Beaumont RCMP Detachment complaint line 780-929-7400. Your report helps us know where to look, who to look for and where to patrol in the future.
