[ARCHIVED] Out With the Old, In With the New: Fresh Bins for Beaumont

Press Release

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

August 4, 2017

Beaumont, AB – Beaumont residents are being asked to prepare for the arrival of new waste carts after a deal was reached with a new company for the town’s waste collection services. Can Pak Environmental Inc. will provide recycling, organics, and garbage collection from September 1, 2017.

In what should be a seamless transition, new grey (garbage) and green (organics) carts will be delivered to homes between August 21 and 31. Residents are asked to take out their old carts on the last garbage and organics collection days in August, even if the carts are not full. The old carts will be emptied and removed, and residents can then use their new carts for future collections.

“These new carts are owned by Beaumont, so in the long run this arrangement will be highly cost effective,” said Beaumont Mayor, Camille Bérubé. “And residents can expect a first-rate waste collection service from our new partners, Can Pak Environmental Inc.”

Residents should look out for flyers that are to be delivered to homes soon, which will detail the transition process. They can also visit www.beaumont.ab.ca/cartswap or download the app “Keep It Green Beaumont”. Once on the app, the residents simply enter their address and the information for their home will appear.

“Downloading the app is the best way for residents to be kept up to date, as notifications will be sent to each collection zone,” said Kathy Lewin, Director of Infrastructure Services. “Any additional developments will be communicated through the app, although information can be found in La Nouvelle Beaumont News, on our website, and on our Facebook and Twitter pages, too We’ve ensured that our residents have plenty of places to get the information they need!”

Collection dates, the size of the carts, and sorting methods will remain the same. The only change taking place is the cart swap. Residents can visit Facebook, Twitter, and www.beaumont.ab.ca/cartswap for information. Alternatively, they can call 780-929-4306, or email environment@beaumont.ab.ca
