Beaumont, AB – Today’s release of the 2016 federal census data indicates that Beaumont Alberta is now the 5th fastest growing community in Canada and the fastest growing community in the Edmonton Capital Region.
“This is good news that further supports the recent decision by the province of Alberta to approve our annexation proposal,” said Beaumont Mayor Camille Bérubé. “Beaumont has experienced consistent, high growth since the turn of the century, and all indications are that this growth will continue.”
Over the past decade Beaumont has seen the population double from 9,700 people in 2007 to an approximate population of over 18,000 today. On average, 2.6 people move to Beaumont each day.
“We are accommodating this growth through careful planning, requiring higher densities, while providing a walkable community for citizens of all ages,” Bérubé continued. “We continue to focus on quality of life, diversity, and culture, while providing services that meet the needs of our current and future residents.”
With the release of the latest figures from StatsCan, the potential for commercial growth in the community is wide open.
“In 2016, commercial building permits issued by Beaumont exceeded the figures from 2015, so even in tough economic times the community remains an attractive area for commercial investors,” Bérubé said.
