The Council of the City of Beaumont has given first reading to Bylaw 960-19 Electric Distribution that, if passed, would affirm FortisAlberta as the exclusive distributor of electricity to lands annexed by the Municipality in 2017. Please note this Bylaw pertains only to electrical distribution as defined in the gray shaded area (e.g., wire system) and does not limit consumers’ ability to choose an electricity retailer.
The non-statutory Public Hearing will be held Tuesday, November 12, 2019, at 6:00 p.m., in the Council Chambers of the City of Beaumont Administration Office located at 5600 - 49 Street, Beaumont AB.
Procedure at the Public Hearing:
1. Presentation of the purpose and effect of the Bylaw.
2. Council will hear:
a) any person or group of persons acting on his or their behalf who claim to be affected by the proposed Bylaw;
b) any other person who wishes to make a presentation and whom the Council agrees to hear.
All written submissions must be received by the Supervisor, Legislative Services on or before noon on Tuesday, November 6, 2019, between the hours of 8:30 a.m and 4:30 p.m. will be recognized prior to any oral submissions.
