About the referendum The 2026 provincial referendum takes place on October 19 and is planned and administered entirely by Elections Alberta. The City of Beaumont doesn’t take a position on the referendum questions and has no role in running the referendum. For details on the questions, voting, or the process, visit the Elections Alberta website. Are referendum signs allowed? Referendum signs may be placed within the City as long as they meet provincial regulations and do not pose a safety hazard. Referendum advertising, including signs, is regulated by the provincial government under Alberta’s Referendum Act and Election Act. Questions about what a sign says? Elections Alberta monitors referendum advertising content, including the required authorization statements. Please direct any questions or complaints to info@elections.ab.ca. Questions about sign placement? Signs placed on private property require the permission of the property owner. If a sign is placed on private property without the owner’s consent, the owner can remove it or move it. If a sign potentially poses a safety concern or is a hazard for traffic or pedestrians, residents can report concerns to the Alberta Transportation office at 780-427-7191.
