Communities in Bloom
Beaumont was the 2014 National Communities in Bloom winner of the 9,001 - 20,000 population category. Beaumont received a 5 Bloom rating and a special mention for Main Street Renovation during the 2014 National Symposium and Awards Ceremonies in Charlottetown, PEI. Beaumont competed against Chestermere AB and Lorraine QC.
Judges evaluated the overall contributions of municipal council and departments, businesses and the private sector - including volunteer efforts - in 7 criteria:
- Environmental Action
- Floral Displays
- Heritage Conservation
- Landscape
- Tidiness
- Urban Forestry
They cited Beaumont's 50 Street and 50 Avenue corridor, streetscaping improvements include new decorative sidewalks, crosswalks, on-street parking, lighting, site furnishings and architectural metalwork which reflect the French village design theme.
Those improvements benefit the residents of Beaumont and was made possible by the participation of several levels of government and the commitment of the streetscape planning committee.
