Fire Advisory in Effect for the City of Beaumont

Active Fire ban

A fire advisory is in effect for the City of Beaumont as of May 6, 2026 at 4 pm.

With warm, dry conditions and forecasted weather, fire risk in the city has increased. Beaumont Fire Services has issued a fire advisory as a precaution.

What is a fire advisory?

A fire advisory is the first level of the City’s fire risk response. It means weather and ground conditions have increased the risk of fires, and residents should use extra caution. A fire advisory is not a fire restriction or ban.

If conditions worsen, the City may upgrade the advisory to a fire restriction (which limits some types of burning) or a fire ban (which prohibits all open burning).

What’s allowed during a fire advisory?

  • Recreational fires in approved, contained firepits with a valid fire permit
  • Gas and propane appliances (barbecues, portable firepits, heaters, stoves)
  • New fire permits may be restricted while the advisory is in effect
  • Existing fire permits remain valid unless the advisory is upgraded

What residents should do

  • Keep water or a garden hose nearby when using a fire pit.
  • Douse fires completely with water when done. Do not let fires burn out on their own.
  • Never leave a fire unattended.
  • Follow the manufacturer’s instructions for outdoor gas and propane appliances.
  • Dispose of cigarettes and smoking materials in fire-safe containers.
  • Clear dry leaves, dead grass and branches from yards and under decks.
  • Call 9-1-1 immediately if you see an unattended or out-of-control fire.

When will the advisory be lifted?

Beaumont Fire Services is monitoring conditions daily. The advisory will remain in effect until conditions improve. If conditions worsen, the advisory may be upgraded to a fire restriction or ban. Updates will be posted on the City’s website and on the City’s social media channels.

Residents are encouraged to monitor albertafirebans.ca for active advisories, restrictions, and bans across the province, especially when travelling or camping outside of Beaumont.
