World Suicide Prevention Day – September 10, 2025

Proclamations have been signed by Mayor Bill Daneluik, containing messages of importance, interest or benefit to citizens of Beaumont.


WHEREAS, globally, an estimated 1,000,000 people die by suicide each year—one person every 40 seconds; 

AND WHEREAS, suicide is the second leading cause of death among youth and young adults (15 to 34 years); 

AND WHEREAS, 1/3 of deaths by suicide are among people 45 to 59 years of age; 

AND WHEREAS, social stigma and a lack of support resources often silence those suffering from mental illness as well as family members who are seeking to recover from the loss of a loved one; 

AND WHEREAS, Beaumont residents are encouraged and invited to be a part of the growing conversation around suicide prevention in order to better support those who need it; 

NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED THAT I, Mayor Bill Daneluik, do hereby proclaim September 10, 2025 as: 
WORLD SUICIDE PREVENTION DAY.
