Mayor statement Posted on: February 11, 2026 “Our hearts are heavy as we join communities across B.C. and Canada in mourning the devastating events at Tumbler Ridge Secondary School on February 10. On behalf of the people of Beaumont, I want to send our deepest condolences to the victims, their families, and the students, staff, and first responders affected by this tragedy. This loss is felt far beyond their region, touching all of us who believe that schools should be places where our kids feel safe, like they belong, and have hope for the future. We also want to acknowledge the immense courage shown by the first responders and community members as they faced such a rapidly evolving situation. Beaumont stands with the people of Tumbler Ridge, and we’re holding you in our hearts as you begin the difficult process of healing.”
