Neighbourhood Posted on: September 9, 2025 Beaumont’s Good Neighbour program recognizes individuals who contribute to a safe, connected and friendly community. We’re excited to showcase our latest award recipients– Dianne and Ron Engen! Nominated by their neighbour Karen Currat, the Engens have become a shining example of what it means to be a true neighbour. Karen shared: “I would like to nominate Dianne & Ron Engen for the Good Neighbour Award in recognition of their exceptional kindness and generosity towards all of us in the neighbourhood. They consistently go above and beyond, always willing to lend a hand when needed. Whether it’s taking care of someone’s home or checking in on it at a moment’s notice, they are always there for us without hesitation. Their selflessness and caring nature have made a positive impact on everyone on the street. Without a doubt, they are the epitome of what it means to be a ‘good’ neighbour. With hearts of gold, Dianne & Ron represent the true spirit of community, and I know everyone in the neighbourhood would wholeheartedly agree that they are deserving of this recognition.” When it came time for their photo, Dianne and Ron didn’t want to stand alone. Instead, they invited several of their neighbours and their children to join them — because in their eyes, anyone could have been chosen. Dianne shared: “Here is a group of our GREAT neighbours from 4 homes around us here in Beaumont! Ron and I were surprised, and very humbly and gratefully accept the neighbourly kindness from Karen who nominated us. Thank you for this program here in Beaumont. There are lots of great folks that are kind and caring. Any and all of these neighbours could have won the award. In the photo: My husband, Ron, and I are the 3rd and 4th from the right – you can’t miss Ron’s beard. Two of our daughters, Elin and Haley, are on the far right. Our other two daughters are working at camps all summer and we also have twin boys, not pictured.” Congratulations, Dianne & Ron! Your humility, kindness and spirit of inclusion truly embody what it means to be a good neighbour. You’ve not only been recognized, but you’ve also reminded us that community is about everyone giving a little and caring a lot. Do you know someone in your neighbourhood who deserves to be recognized? Nominate them for a Good Neighbour award!
