IndigenousMayor statement Posted on: June 21, 2025 “Today, we recognize National Indigenous Peoples Day, a time to honour the history, cultures, and contributions of First Nations, Inuit, and Métis Peoples across Canada. This day invites us to reflect, learn, and celebrate. It is a reminder of the strength, resilience, and leadership of Indigenous communities, and the importance of acknowledging the deep roots and living traditions that shape this land. Here in Beaumont, we are committed to creating a community that is inclusive, compassionate, and informed. As part of that commitment, the Treaty 6 and Métis Nation flags are flying at the Beaumont Sport and Recreation Centre. This visible gesture is a symbol of respect for the enduring presence of Indigenous Peoples and a reminder of our shared responsibility in the journey toward reconciliation. I encourage everyone to take time today, and throughout the year, to engage with Indigenous stories, histories, and perspectives. Whether through learning, reflection, or celebration, each step forward strengthens our connections and helps build a better future for all.”
