Active Commuting updatesConstruction updatesRoad closuresWater bans A section of 50 Street between 50 Avenue and 51 Avenue will be closed to vehicles on October 29 for the safe decommissioning of an old waterline beneath the roadway. As part of this work, some nearby businesses and residents may experience a brief water outage between 9 and 11 am, lasting about 30 to 45 minutes while crews complete the disconnection. Water service will be restored as quickly as possible once the work is complete. This work is needed to remove an old waterline that conflicts with ongoing redevelopment in Centre-Ville. Completing this proactively will help prevent future service disruptions and support continued downtown improvements. What to expect: A signed detour will guide motorists safely around the affected area (see detour map). Sidewalks on both sides of 50 Street will remain open, but the crosswalk on this block will be temporarily closed. Access to nearby businesses and properties will be maintained where possible. Water may appear slightly discoloured for a short time after service is restored. If this occurs, run cold water until it clears. Please follow posted signs, allow extra travel time and use caution near the construction area. Timelines may be adjusted if weather or unexpected site conditions arise. Your patience and understanding while this necessary work is completed are appreciated.
