Media releasesYouth Posted on: June 16, 2025 The City of Beaumont is inviting Alberta-based artists and artist teams to submit qualifications for a new public art installation at the Chantal Bérubé Community Youth Centre (CBYC). This is a chance to bring colour, creativity and community spirit to a space that has served Beaumont youth for more than 20 years. The selected artwork will become a permanent feature of the centre’s exterior, celebrating connection, self-expression and belonging. About the project Location: Chantal Bérubé Community Youth Centre (5202 50 Street, Beaumont, AB) Scope: Public artwork on the building exterior and/or grounds Eligible art forms: Murals, framed art, fibre art, glasswork, photography, sculpture, mosaics, hanging installations and more Budget: $34,000 + GST (inclusive of all materials, installation, travel and insurance) Eligibility: Open to Alberta-based artists and artist teams Preference: Artists from Beaumont or Leduc County How to apply To apply, artists must submit the following in PDF format: Submission form: Download the full RFQ package [PDF] Letter of Interest (max. 500 words) Share your artistic experience, your approach to this site and any early ideas Describe how you might engage youth or the community in your process Artist CV (max. 2 pages per artist) Portfolio (up to 10 images of past work) Include title, year, medium, dimensions, location and commissioning body Professional references (2 names with contact info) Email your completed submission to Karen Gilbert at karen.gilbert@beaumont.ab.ca Key dates Applications open: June 16, 2025 Deadline for questions: July 30, 2025 at 4:30 pm Answers posted publicly: By August 1, 2025 Submission deadline: August 15, 2025 at 4:30 pm Shortlisted artists notified: By September 5, 2025 Stage 2 submissions deadline: September 29, 2025 at 4:30 pm Stage 2 interviews: October 1, 2025 Project awarded: October 2025 Important: Late submissions will not be accepted. Applicants are encouraged to send their proposals early and confirm receipt. What we’re looking for Submissions will be evaluated based on: Portfolio strength Relevant public art experience Letter of interest and execution approach Community or youth engagement potential Concept clarity and budget alignment (Stage 2) Selection process This is a two-stage process: Stage 1: Qualifications review A selection panel will review submissions and shortlist up to three artists or teams based on experience, portfolio and approach. Stage 2: Concept proposal Shortlisted artists will develop a concept, budget breakdown and installation plan. One artist/team will be selected for the final commission. Need help or have questions? About the Chantal Bérubé Community Youth Centre (CBYC) The CBYC is a free drop-in centre for youth aged 12–17. It’s a space to hang out, connect with mentors, access supports, and build community.
