Affordable Home Upgrades that Make a Difference

Thinking about installing solar panels, upgrading your windows or switching to a high-efficiency furnace? The City of Beaumont is making it easier and more affordable to make these home improvements through the Clean Energy Improvement Program (CEIP).

In partnership with Alberta Municipalities and supported through funding from the Federation of Canadian Municipalities’ Green Municipal Fund, the City is offering low-interest financing through CEIP to help residents tackle eligible energy-saving projects. Instead of a traditional bank loan, CEIP allows homeowners to repay the costs for these projects over time through their property taxes.

Program highlights

The program offers many benefits, including:

• Low-interest financing: Cover up to 100% of project costs (up to $50,000) at a fixed interest rate of 3.5%
• Earn rebates: Receive up to $1,100 in rebates. Approved applicants get $400 for finishing their project and an additional $700 if those upgrades reduce energy use by 30% after the project is completed.
• Flexible repayment: Take up to 20 years to pay the loan back or pay it off early at any time without penalty.
• Wide range of eligible projects: From new windows and doors to high-efficiency furnaces, insulation and solar panels, there are plenty of eligible projects available.

Getting started

Applications are accepted on a first-come, first-served basis, based on annual funding available. The City of Beaumont will offer the program for four years through to 2030. To qualify for financing and rebates, residents must apply and receive project approval before starting any home upgrades.
