With extreme cold temperatures expected to continue, the City is actively assessing whether Brighten Up Beaumont can safely go ahead. The wellbeing of residents, volunteers, children and staff guides all decision-making.

At this time, the event is still planned. However, if conditions become unsafe, all activities — both indoor and outdoor — may be cancelled, including:

  • Santa & Mrs. Claus
  • Horse-drawn carriages
  • Live ice carving
  • Maple taffy
  • Firepits
  • Library crafts and programming
  • All scheduled entertainment

How decisions are being made:

  • The City is closely monitoring weather conditions and assessing all spaces so everyone can participate safely.
  • A final decision will be shared on Friday at 12 pm across all City channels.

If the event is cancelled:

  • Even indoor activities cannot proceed due to space limitations, capacity and safety protocols.
  • There will be no rescheduled date or alternative activities this year.
  • On-site signage will confirm the cancellation for anyone who shows up.

While this may be disappointing, your safety is our top priority. Thank you for your understanding, and please stay warm.
