Media releases Posted on: February 18, 2026 Indicators confirm that Beaumont is experiencing strong economic growth that is expected to continue through 2026. A recent economic update shared with Council highlights several signs of momentum: Commercial vacancies plummeted from 21.3 per cent to 6.5 per cent in two years. Beaumont added 150,000 sq. ft. of commercial development since 2023. 42 new commercial businesses called Beaumont home in the past 24 months, including upscale and family dining, jewelry and unique shopping stores, and expanded medical, wellness and personal care services. “As I walk down our streets and visit with residents, there is a palpable sense of energy in the air,” said Mayor Lisa Vanderkwaak. “It’s the sound of new doors opening, the sight of construction crews hard at work, and the feeling that Beaumont is becoming more than just a place where people live; it is a place where they thrive. In 2026, Beaumont is on track to add at least another 75,000 sq. ft. of new commercial development. Permits were recently approved for a grocery store and automotive repair services. Beaumont also marked the first successful applicant for the City’s primary care support grant program with the arrival of a new family physician, and more applications are being evaluated. “We want Beaumont to be a place where you can raise a family, build a career, enjoy a night out, and find more services you need right here,” said Mayor Vanderkwaak.
