Beaumont, AB - The City of Beaumont and the Beaumont Chamber of Commerce are teaming up to encourage support for local businesses during the COVID-19 pandemic.
“Local businesses are the backbone of our community. They not only provide jobs, they support sports, arts, charities and many other worthy causes in Beaumont,” said Mayor John Stewart. “It’s our turn to show our support – even if you’re not in a position to support them with your dollars, post a message on social media letting them know how important they are to the community.”
“We’re impressed and inspired by the steps our business community has taken to continue serving residents,” said Curtis Haley, president of the Beaumont Chamber of Commerce. “Whether it’s delivery, curbside pickup, or virtual sessions, our Beaumont businesses are up to the current challenge and have quickly adapted their normal business models.”
Businesses can use the #OpeninBeaumont hashtag on social media to let residents know they’re still open and serving the community. They can also add their information to the Beaumont Chamber of Commerce website listing businesses that are currently open.
Beaumont residents are also asked to participate in a number of ways:
- Buying local whenever possible, by ordering online, ordering takeout or delivery, or purchasing a gift card for later.
- Posting photos on social media when they support local businesses, using #OpeninBeaumont to share who they’re supporting and telling others about their experience.
- Sending messages of support for their favourite local businesses on social media by tagging them and using #OpeninBeaumont.
Residents who post to social media using #OpeninBeaumont between April 14 and May 14 will be entered to win a gift basket featuring products and gift cards from local businesses. Full contest details are on the city’s website.
