The City of Beaumont is aware of and monitoring the increasing number of coronavirus cases in Alberta. The health and safety of the public and city employees, as well as the continuity of services to residents, are our top priorities.
The city and its contractors have plans in place that can be activated to ensure services such as fire protection, drinking water, garbage collection, and payment of utility bills are not disrupted should a significant number of employees become unavailable. Employees have also received instruction on how to minimize the risk of transmitting coronavirus in the workplace and to the public.
We are regularly assessing the health risk to residents at city facilities, programs and events. Please be aware that programs and events may be cancelled at short notice if we determine there is a significant risk to public health. Residents can check the City of Beaumont’s website and Facebook page for cancellations.
Should the situation worsen and an employee shortage become severe enough to affect the ability to maintain services, priority would be given to those that support the security and safety of residents. In this event, residents would be notified and regularly updated.
