Arc (Smart Fare)

Transit Notice: Starting April 1, 2023, certain paper passes/tickets will no longer be made available for purchase. Riders can now easily use ARC for specific transit needs. If you don't see your fare option below, ARC is required to use transit services.

We are giving away free Arc Cards to riders! First come, first serve with limited quantities available. To get one, ask your driver on your next ride.

Arc will be available for Standard Adult Fare riders starting on November 21, 2022 in Edmonton with Beaumont buses being activated on November 23, 2022. The Standard Adult fare profile is for any rider who doesn't qualify for a discount or who wishes to remain anonymous by not registering their account.

Arc will launch in phases. This allows us to continue to work with special customer groups to provide the education, care and attention needed to get all customers on the Arc system.

Arc remains available for students participating in U-Pass.

In 2023
Arc will be expanded to include:

  • Seniors
  • Youth
  • Students
  • Riders eligible for low income passes
  • Those who use paratransit services

Exact timing is to be determined. If you are in a discounted fare group, keep an eye on this webpage for updates on when Arc will be available to you!

Arc Region

The system includes an Arc card that can be tapped when entering and exiting buses and the LRT on all 7 participating transit systems. With Arc, money is stored on a secure online account, not on the card. Specific program details on how Arc will work for different fare groups and individual customers will be available in late summer on a new website - myArc.ca. Also, there will be a new Arc call centre to answer individual questions. Only high level program information is available through 311 and regional transit customer service agents.
