The recently updated Alberta Health Order defines a high-intensity physical activity as an activity that results in significantly increased respiration rates in a person. A low-intensity activity does not result in significantly increased respiration rates.
Unfortunately due to the variety of fitness levels for each patron, in order to ensure a safe environment of low-intensity activity, we are closing and turning off all cardiovascular machines for the time being. However, we do have our walking track available for appointment bookings. We have maximized the booking capacity for the track based on safe distancing measurements. Please remember that only low-intensity exercise is permitted at this time (no running).
Yes, we will have our strength training machines, equipment and racks available. Please ensure that you are wearing a mask during your activity and monitoring your intensity level, keeping at a low intensity of exertion. Some machines and equipment pieces might be closed off on daily rotation to ensure that distancing measures are met.
To the extent possible, attendees should arrive dressed and ready to participate. Access to dressing/locker is limited to washrooms and emergency access (e.g., first aid). We have cubby storage units available throughout the Fitness Centre for any personal belongings (please do not leave any valuables). We also have both electronic and combination locker units available on both the upper and lower levels of the facility.
At this time, the BSRC is not offering personal training services, however, this will be evaluated during the Step 2 phase of re-opening. We will make an announcement once we are able to safely and effectively offer personal training services and/or allow one-on-one training at an increased capacity at our facility.
As per our initial re-opening cleaning procedures, we will continue to mandate that every participant grabs a clean individual disinfectant spray bottle and cloth upon entry, and disposes it in the marked containers upon leaving the facility. We ask that our patrons are responsible for spraying and wiping down all pieces of equipment/machines after use. We also have daily closure times of our Fitness Centre for disinfectant fogging of the entire facility.
Yes, we are offering low-intensity group fitness classes! These classes are currently being offered for 3-week sessions during Step 2 of the Provincial re-opening plan. They are not included in the BSRC membership at this time and are available for pre-registration only. For more information on the types of classes, pricing and to register, please visit www.clickit.beaumont.ab.ca.
