On November 1, 2019 the Government of Alberta announced plans to construct a new Kindergarten to Grade 12 Francophone School in Beaumont. The announcement presents many opportunities for our community:
The City has been working closely with Conseil scolaire Centre-Nord School Board to identify a site that meets the needs of both students and Beaumont as a whole. The City of Beaumont has determined that the most suitable location for the school is within the Ruisseau neighbourhood. While a number of potential sites were identified throughout Beaumont, the Ruisseau site was selected in part because it can be made available for construction to begin within the year, as required by the Province.
The Francophone school will be located on an identified Municipal Reserve area adjacent to Four Seasons Park, as illustrated on the map below. Land designated as Municipal Reserve can only be used to develop schools, sports fields and recreation areas, and parks.
The new school offers many exciting opportunities for our community and a great amenity for the Ruisseau neighbourhood.
