An Area Structure Plan is a statutory plan that provides the planning, transportation and servicing framework for a specified area, and must be consistent with all higher level plans, including Provincial Legislation and Regulations, higher order municipal statutory plans, and intermunicipal agreements.

The City of Beaumont referred the Le Rêve Area Structure Plan application to plan area landowners, adjacent landowners and external agencies, including school boards, Leduc County, City of Edmonton, and provincial agencies  from September 9 to October 5, 2020. The following links provide additional information on the plans and policies that shape the development of Area Structure Plans in Beaumont:

The applicant has completed an engagement process over September and October to collect feedback from the general public and from landowners. The applicant has created a summary of the process within a “What We Heard Report.” The City of Beaumont is posting this report online on behalf of the applicant.

On January 12, 2021, Council gave First Reading to Bylaw 994-21 Le Rêve Area Structure Plan. The City will submit the Plan to the Edmonton Metropolitan Growth Board in the near future for the Regional Evaluation Framework process. If the Plan is approved through this process, a Public Hearing will be held. A Public Hearing provides the opportunity for the public to address Council with their concerns or their support for a land development policy or application. Council will then have an opportunity to review the Plan and may give Second and Third Reading if it supports the Plan. If Second and Third Reading is passed by Council, the plan is considered formally approved and becomes the land use planning direction for this area.

Information on next steps will be provided on the City of Beaumont website and advertised in accordance with the Municipal Government Act
