Playground Pea Gravel Removal
Starting October 28, 2020, the City is doing temporary maintenance on playgrounds throughout Beaumont. A total of 6 playgrounds are having their surfaces revitalized. The old Pea Gravel will be removed and replaced with engineered wood fibre. Please note that the order of work still has to be determined and is weather dependent. This page will be updated as more details are finalized. On the day of, each playground will be closed between 8 am - 7 pm. Playgrounds should be open in the evenings. The revitalization will be at the following playgrounds:
|Park Name + Location||Maintenance Date|
|Parc Tessier Park - 76 Champlain Place||October 28, 2020|
|Parc Martine Park - 80 Rue Monette||October 29, 2020|
|Parc Carousel Park - 5502 59 St.||October 30, 2020|
|Parc Milieu Park - Ecole Coloniale School||Oct 31 + Nov 1, 2020|
|Parc Nature Park - 4303 41 Ave.||Nov 2 + Nov 3, 2020|
On Sept 1 council approved the reallocation of funds that were in the 2020 capital budget for the construction of a ball diamond in Milieu Parc as well as additional funds to be used for the design and construction of 4 ball diamonds and off-leash park at the City-owned 80 acre parcel in West Beaumont. The land is located west of the BSRC on Township road 505 on the south side. The project is moving into the detailed design with the intention to begin construction of road access, service road, parking area and an off-leash area fall 2020. The construction of the 4 ball diamonds will follow alongside and continue into 2021.
This is very exciting news for Beaumont and continues our work to meet the needs outlined in the Our Places and Play - Recreation, Parks and Facilities Master Plan.
The City completed a public engagement process on these changes from July 31 to August 11, 2020. A recording of a webinar that was completed for this engagement is available here. The findings of this public engagement will be presented to Council later in 2020. More updates on this process can be found on the Council Meeting agendas and minutes page.
As part of our commitment to the Our Places and Play: Beaumont’s Recreation, Parks and Facilities Master Plan we are building two new outdoor rinks. One of the new rinks will be located in Park Montalet directly east of the Dansereau Meadows School and the other rink will be directly behind the Ken Nichol Regional Recreation Centre.
The concrete pads at both rinks have been poured and are curing, the rink boards are scheduled to be installed early December after which the city will begin making ice at the two locations.
In 2019 the City of Beaumont removed the basketball court which was located on top of the water reservoir for safety reasons. In 2020 will be replacing the basketball court with a new multi-use asphalt surface court just south of last year’s construction. It will also be fenced off similar to the previous location. - Northeast corner of 57 Street & 48 Avenue. Just south of the original basketball court.

This summer the city will be completing upgrades on the small playground on Rosemount Blvd. The project will include adding trees to the park to enhance privacy for the surrounding residents and one new piece of equipment.
We conducted a survey to determine what piece of new equipment residents preferred. Residents overwhelmingly voted for the rotating climbing net.
The new equipment will be installed shortly and the playground will be closed during the work. Here is a preview of what the playground will look like including the new trees.
A new Culvert bridge will be installed by the concession on Four Seasons Park similar to the one installed in 2018 by the Lions RV Park. The new bridge will be safer for residents, and will allow City snow removal and grass cutting equipment to cross the bridge without damaging the bridge.
