Municipal Census

***The 2013 Municipal Census is now underway! Enumerators will be out visiting residences during the month of May. Please do your part for the community and give them a few moments of your time to answer their questions. If you find a pink census notice on your door, please call your enumerator at the number provided on the notice. If you have not been visited by an enumerator by the end of May, please contact Zinnie Breitkreutz at 780-929-1352.***

Why does the Town of Beaumont conduct a municipal census?

By establishing complete and accurate population data, the Council can make informed decisions about delivery of services, such as recreational facilities and emergency response needs. Additionally, school boards and businesses use the information as a valuable tool for planning purposes. Many federal and provincial grants are awarded on a per-capita basis, and having an up-to-date population figure maximizes our grant funding.

When does the municipal census take place?

The Town of Beaumont conducts a municipal census annually. Enumeration commences on May 1st of each year.

What types of questions will be asked?

  • How many people reside in your household as of May 1st?
  • What is the sex and age of each resident in your household?
  • How many years have you resided in Beaumont?
  • Which area did you live in before moving to Beaumont?
  • What is the work destination of each resident aged 16 and older?

What is done to ensure privacy of the information collected?

All responses are strictly confidential, and names are not connected to the information provided. Each census enumerator hired by the Town undergoes training, and signs an oath of confidentiality before participating in the enumeration.

Where can the municipal census results be found?

For current and historical census results, please visit the Census Profile page. Copies of the most recent Census Highlights are available at the Town Office.

How do I become a census enumerator?

The Town of Beaumont begins the enumerator hiring process in March of each year, and the enumerator training session takes place in late April. When hiring is underway, advertisements are placed in the local newspaper, as well as in the careers section of the website. If you are interested in becoming an enumerator, please complete an application form and submit it to the Municipal Clerk during this time.
