Transit Feasibility Study

The Town of Beaumont is conducting a study to determine the financial feasibility of public transit in Beaumont.

Presently, three possibilities are being investigated:

  • local (transit within Beaumont)
  • commuter (transit from Beaumont to other areas, i.e. Leduc, Nisku, Edmonton, etc.)
  • specialized transit (transportation for those with special needs and/or mobility limitations).

Purpose of study

The aim of the study is to determine the need for public transportation in Beaumont while balancing those needs with the willingness of residents to fund this potential service. The information compiled in this study will then be delivered to Town Council for their information to then determine next steps for public transit in Beaumont.

Where we are today?

The current status of this study is that the Town of Beaumont has contracted Banister Research to conduct a transit phone survey of town residents. The purpose of the survey is to get feedback on the various transit options (outlined above) and how such a service may impact municipal taxes, if approved by Town Council.

This will be a statistically valid survey, which requires a specific ratio of residents to represent the distinct demographics of the Town of Beaumont. Representatives from Banister Research will ask for members in your household over the age of 18 and may request to speak to a male or female head of household to ensure that these ratios are kept intact for the purposes of this survey. The survey will take anywhere from 12-15 minutes and all information residents provide will be kept completely anonymous.
